Illinois Governor Pat Quinn plans to talk to the head of Caterpillar today.
The two will discuss the state's business climate and the efforts of other states trying to lure the company away from Illinois.
Caterpillar Chief Executive Officer, Doug Oberhelman, sent a letter to the governor last month telling Quinn several states have attempted to get the heavy equipment manufacturer to relocate. Oberhelman says the relocation talk began when the state raised income taxes earlier this year.
Oberhelman says Illinois leaders are making it harder for companies like Caterpillar to stay in the state.
