SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) - The Sikeston Department of Public Safety arrested a 57-year-old homeowner early Monday, reportedly after he assaulted an officer while firefighters were putting out a fire at his home.
The officer was not seriously injured, according to Sikeston Dept. of Public Safety Relations Director Jim McMillen.
The homeowner, whose name was being held pending formal charges, was also a suspect in the fire, McMillen said.
The home is at 223 Petroleum Street. McMillen said firefighters were called to the scene at 6:52 a.m. Monday.
A possible motive had not been released as of Monday afternoon.
