New sports complex opens in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Services has opened a new sports complex at the Shawnee Park Center.

The ribbon cutting was on March 28.

The new complex is located in the southern part of Cape Girardeau and features an indoor basketball court.

Recreation Coordinator Heather Davis said "It's exciting because its a new community center located in another part of Cape. We invite everyone to come out, especially the people in this area because it gives them a new place to go."

Davis also said that they are looking to do some programming for the youth in the area at the new facility such as summer camps and after school programs.
