CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - An abrupt pattern change late last week took our temperatures from well above to well below average.
So when will spring return?
Looking over the next several days, it appears that Heartland weather will stay on the chilly side until late in the week or even next weekend.
Although Sunday will likely bring a bit more sunshine, afternoon temperatures will still be well below the average high of about 60°.
This cool pattern will likely be reinforced by another couple of passing weather systems during the upcoming week.
There is also a good chance of more unneeded wet weather: a bit of light rain, drizzle or wet snow Sunday night, and then some heavier rain and possible thunder on Tuesday, adding to our already wetter than normal March.
The good news is that by the end of the week a more significant pattern change is being advertised by forecast models, with high pressure aloft and southwesterly winds combining to bring a significant warming trend - especially next Saturday and Sunday the first weekend of April.
