ALEXANDER COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Numerous residents in Alexander County woke up without water Saturday morning.
The Central Alexander County Public Water District (CACPWD) is working to repair a broken water main that's knocked out water service to a couple of small communities.
Officials with CACPWD say Klondike and Urbandale are still under the boil water order.
The communities of Cache, Patierdale and all of the Alexander County Drainage District are back on after being without water, according to CACPWD.
Water was restored around noon on Saturday to most of the communities that were without service. Crews had rerouted the water to the north and south.
The reason for the order was a major water line brake or leak is where Route 3 and 127 meet, and is under water. Crews were not able to get to the break.
Crews were alerted of the brake around 8 p.m. last night and worked on the problem until 11 p.m. That's when they discovered the leak was unreachable.
Officials aren't sure how long repairs will take, but say crews are working to resolve the problem.
When water service does resume to homes in Klondike and Urbandale, customers should boil their water until further notice.
