The Union Pacific's Great Excursion Adventure sending a steam locomotive through Cape Girardeau on the Little Rock Express route will be May 29 through June 9.
There were more than 76,000 online votes in Union Pacific's You Route the Steam contest.
The Little Rock Express route will start in Kansas City, Mo. on May 29 and will make over night stops in KC, Jefferson City, St. Louis, Cape Girardeau, Bald Knob and North Little Rock. The route will conclude June 9 in Little Rock, Ark.
The Union Pacific's steam locomotive No. 844 will be the one making the trip. The No. 844 locomotive began duty in 1944 and pulled both passenger and freight trains.
A detailed schedule with whistle stop locations will be announced April 27.
