CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Area coaches got the chance to listen to a former professional wrestler talk about the dangers of concussions.
Chris Nowinski wrestled with World Wrestling Entertainment. His career ended pretty abruptly in 2003 because of a series of concussions.
Nowinski says he wants to educate parents, coaches and children about just how dangerous concussions really are.
"They (kids) need a healthy brain to have a healthy future," said Nowinski.
The wrestler recently founded a nonprofit group to continue concussion research.
Nowinski says he hopes it will help efforts to improve protection for student athletes.
