CARTERVILLE, IL (KFVS) - A car and a police cruiser crashed in Williamson County, sending both drivers to the hospital.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, a Carterville Police car was responding to a domestic battery with its emergency lights activated. When it tried to pass two vehicles that were also traveling westbound on Grand Avenue, one of the cars tried to turn left and crossed into the path of the squad car.
A small Chevy Cavalier collided with a patrol car a little after 2 p.m. on Thursday near the intersection of Breeze Road.
The car ended up in a ditch after leaving the road and hitting a telephone pole.
The Carterville squad car received damage to the passenger side. The other vehicle received damage to the driver's side and front end.
Both drivers to taken to Herrin Hospital for minor injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
