Four people injured in a roll-over crash on Interstate 55

NEW MADRID COUNTY, MO (KFVS) – Four people injured in a roll-over crash on Interstate 55.

A crash on Interstate 55 north of Marston, MO tied up traffic Saturday evening.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, four people, including a five-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl were flown to St. Francis Medical Center with injuries.

Troopers say the driver of the vehicle, 32-year-old Lakiesha Pate, of Memphis, Tennessee, was driving a 97' Chevrolet in the southbound lane of I-55 when she drove off the road and flipped the vehicle.

According to the police report Pate's vehicle flipped due to an equipment failure.  The vehicle is a total loss.

Pate, the 14-year-old and an adult passenger were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.  The five-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police say Pate and the adult passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, but the five-year-old and the 14-year-old were not buckled up.

The roll-over crash happened at 6:30 Saturday evening.

Missouri Highway Patrol, New Madrid County Sheriff's Office, New Madrid Police Department, and Portageville Fire and Rescue were all on the scene of the crash.
