Unemployment drops in Illinois & Missouri in February

By Heartland News

SPRINGFIELD, IL (KFVS) - The latest numbers show Illinois unemployment dipped below 9 percent for the first time in two years, falling to 8.9 percent in February.

The Illinois Department of Employment Security released the new figures this week that mark the thirteenth consecutive month of declining joblessness. While the numbers show improvement, there are still more than half of a million Illinoisans without jobs.

Missouri's unemployment rate for February sits at 9.4 percent. That's a small drop from January's 9.6 percent joblessness in the Show Me state.

Missouri's unemployment still sits above the national average of 8.9 percent.
