LEDBETTER, KY (KFVS) - A search is underway in Livingston County Friday morning for a suspect who escaped state police custody.

It happened near Ledbetter. Kentucky State Police went to 183 McGuire Road to serve arrest warrants.

When they arrived they found an active meth lab and arrested five people.  Among those arrested was Don Brelsford.

While being transported to jail, Brelsford told an officer he was getting sick. The officer pulled over and rolled down the rear window for Brelsford to use in case he became ill.

Somehow Brelsford was able to bring his cuffed hand from behind his back to the front of his body.

He opened the patrol car from the outside and ran off.

Police say Brelsford was last seen running toward flood water toward the Clarks River and he eventually jumped in.

So far police have not located Brelsford.

Brelsford is five foot nine inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds.

He has several tattoos on his neck and a spider web tattoo on his arm.

If you know anything about his whereabouts contact the Kentucky State Police at (270) 856-3721.
