Harrisburg man pleads guilty to sexual abuse

SALINE COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A Harrisburg man has pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual abuse stemming from 2010.

John D. Barrall, 41, pleaded guilty on March 12, 2011 to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Saline County Circuit Court, according to Michael J Henshaw, State's Attorney of Saline County.

In accordance with a plea agreement, Barrall was sentenced to 14 years in the Illinois Dept. of Corrections and must register as a sex offender for life, according to Henshaw.

Barrall admitted to using force to sexually abuse a 39-year-old Harrisburg woman at his residence on April 11, 2010 and using bodily harm by restraining and abusing her, according to the attorney.

Henshaw also stated that the plea agreement allowed the victim to avoid the trauma of a trial, yet insured that Barrall will be behind bars for a significant period of time.
