Fire Marshal investigating Puxico fire

PUXICO, MO (KFVS) -  The Missouri Fire Marshal's office is taking a closer look at a fire that damaged a Puxico gift and Floral shop.

The fire broke out early Monday evening at Country Blessings, a business located at 230 East Richardson Avenue in Puxico.

According to police the fire started in the back of the business.   Police believe that fire crews were able to contain the fire to the business and that it didn't spread.

Right now investigators have not said if they have a cause for the fire and no one was hurt.

Puxico Assistant Fire Chief Tim Zych said one of the things that helped in putting out the fire is the people of Puxico.

"You know one of the things that really helped us is how quickly it was called in. You know the people did not hesitate to call 911. And given that we're a volunteer fire department, we're having guys coming from their homes, or places of employment to get here just to get on the equipment itself. So people should call immediately," said Zych.

Zych said they got the call just after 5pm.
