Captured: High speed chase turned manhunt in Chaffee

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - What started as a routine traffic stop turned into a manhunt into the woods.

It started when a deputy tried to pull over a 25-year-old man from Jackson for expired tags on March 13, 2011, but instead of cooperating he took off, according to Sheriff Rick Walter.

In the process the suspect allegedly drove his white Pontiac between two other cars and that's when things became dangerous, according to Walter.

Eventually the man wearing a camouflage jacket and white hat was spotted in Chaffee where authorities and citizens went looking for him in the woods.

"I saw him come up behind my trailer," said Mike Blankenship of Chaffee. "I told him the cops are after him!"

Authorities caught up with the suspect late this afternoon and charges are pending.

"We dealt with him before," said Sheriff Walter. "We know who he is."
