MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A Paducah man is in the hospital after police say he tried to beat a train and crashed his car.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, 44-year-old John Wooley was driving north on Kentucky 305.

A deputy said witness statements from the train indicate Wooley went through the train signals to try and beat that train.

Wooley lost control of his car, hit a mailbox, and flipped, according to a deputy.

He was taken to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
