BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Averee Fields scored 20 of her 30 points in the second half to help Calloway County beat Newport Central Catholic 62-57 in overtime Thursday in the first round of the Kentucky Girls' Sweet 16 tournament.

Kiley Bartels made two free throws with five seconds left in regulation for Newport Central Catholic (25-5) to tie the game at 57. A last-second shot by Abby Futrell rimmed out so the teams went to overtime.

Calloway (31-1) scored the first six points in the extra period to build the lead. Alex Schalk had a chance to tie the game with 11 seconds left but her 3-point attempt fell short.

Hanna Thiem led the Thoroughbreds with 18 points while Nicole Kiernan had 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Calloway County will face Sheldon Clark in the quarterfinals on Friday.
