POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - After serving nearly a year in Afghanistan, the 205th Military Police Battalion came home to Poplar Bluff this morning.
Nearly 80 soldiers were welcomed back home by about 300 family members and friends at the Black River Coliseum.
The troops were responsible for training the Afghanistan Border Police, specifically at the Afghanistan and Pakistan border.
And after missing a year of birthdays, holidays, and even the birth of children, the soldiers say they're so happy to finally be home with their families.
"There's no feeling like it in the world," said Sgt. Michael Bailey.
"It's been hard," said Spc. Carl Hart, who missed the birth of his son, Tanner. "But we've worked at it and I feel like our family is stronger."
All the troops returned home safely without combat injuries.
