Power restored in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - Power has been restored in Carbondale after more than 1000 Ameren customers were out of power Friday morning.

According to an Ameren worker, an insulator broke at the Illinois Ave. substation causing the outage.

According to Ameren's website, 1448 Ameren customers were without power as of 11:30 a.m.

Police officers directed traffic at several intersections.  The outage spanned from Oakland Avenue to Illinois Avenue and from Willow Street to Cherry Street.

Traffic signals at major intersections are back on line.

Drivers who come to an intersection without power and no officer present directing traffic are asked to stop as if the intersection is controlled by a stop sign.

Power was restored at 1:30 p.m.
