River search suspended due to weather conditions

NEW HAVEN, IL (KFVS) - Search operations for a possible body along the Wabash River south of New Haven have been suspended until further notice, due to high water and weather conditions.

Wednesday afternoon oil workers struck a possible body in the Wabash River and search crews from the Shawneetown Fire Department, Ridgway Fire Department, Old Shawneetown Fire Department, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, searched the river location for the body.

"The rising waters and weather conditions have caused the search operations to be ceased until further notice," said Gallatin County Emergency Management Agency Co-Ordinator Steve Galt.

Anyone with information about a missing person in the Gallatin County area are asked to contact the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office at 618-269-3137.
