State fire marshal to investigate daycare fire in Ripley Co.

RIPLEY COUNTY, MO (KFVS) – The state fire marshal is investigating a fire at a daycare in Ripley County early Wednesday morning.

The Current River Fire Department responded to the blaze at the Happy Campers Daycare on Y Highway about a half mile from Hwy. 160 around 6 a.m. on March 2, 2011.

The state fire marshal was called in to investigate and they believe the fire started from a power strip in the office area, according to the Current River Fire Dept. Chief.

The building is still standing but there is damage to the inside of the structure, and 40 percent of the facility has been destroyed according to the Fire Chief.

The Purman Fire Dept. provided tanker support in the blaze.

Other day cares are helping to find replacement locations for the current 16 children who attended the daycare.
