ORAN, MO  (KFVS) - Doing some fall cleaning? Have hardwood or tile floors? Hate sweeping with a broom? Now, Bissell has a vacuum that'll put your broom and dustpan in the closet for good and cut cleaning time in half. So, Does it Work?

Last year around Christmas time, I introduced you to the Bissell Versus Bare Floor Vacuum. It, too, promises to clean your hardwood, tile and laminate floors. This year, the company says it's improved its product, even changing its look. So, let's compare the two and see if the 2010 model is all that better.

Valerie Phillips of Oran has no issues putting the vacuum together. Now let's see if the new Bissell PowerEdge has the suction power it claims to.

"That's awesome," said Valerie after giving the PowerEdge a whirl.

That's the early review. Let's see how this works. Valerie is in the process of re-stripping her hardwood floors she purposely left dirty for our test. It picked up the dirt under the furniture. and big pieces of dog food. She found it's also easy to maneuver in tight places.

"You can't usually get a broom under there. That worked."

But Does it Work on corners like it boasts?

"Yup! It has really good suction."

That's for sure, and Valerie equally likes the PowerEdge's performance on her laminate kitchen floor. We collected a lot of dirt and debris.

"Grab it and go. That's easy cleaning instead of bending down, sweeping it and dumping it."

She likes it better than her Swiffer Sweeper. Question remains: is this vacuum new and improved over last year's model? I'd say yes! Last year, I gave the Bissell Versus a good grade 'B'. It didn't quite pick up all the dirt in my home, but I loved tossing my broom aside.

As for the PowerEdge, it does have more sucking power, it's more lightweight, and it's $30 cheaper than the Versus.

"It's up there in the A's."

You betcha...the $50 Bissell PowerEdge doesn't cut corners here and has the edge earning an 'A' on this Does it Work test.
