Woman sentenced for stealing from volunteer fire department

STE. GENEVIEVE, MO (KFVS) - A Ste. Genevieve woman was sentenced to 45 days in jail and five years probation for stealing from Weingarten Volunteer Fire Department.

Clara Burr worked part-time as the treasurer for the department.

She worked full time at the MRV Banks location in Ste. Genevieve, MO.

Court documents claim Burr stole at least $98,000 by writing unauthorized checks to herself, by making unauthorized expenditures with the Department's credit card and by stealing money from the Department's ladies auxiliary fund account.  She is also accused of obtaining two false loans.

Burr was also ordered to pay restitution totaling $90,573.41 along with her sentence.
