FRUITLAND, MO (KFVS) - The Highway 62 yard sale kicked off Friday in southeast Missouri.
At the yard sale, you can find everything from tools to toys, and sellers say you can find some great deals here, especially in a down economy.
"You can get bargains at a yard sale because a lot of times it's marked down really reasonable," said Helen Jackson of Jackson. "I have an antique booth, and this is where I get rid of my stuff that doesn't turn over and sell and I mark it a lot cheaper than I do in my antique booth."
Sellers say don't come to the yard sale expecting to just see junk people want to throw away. They say there are nice items to be found at every booth at a good price.
Organizers say they have no idea how much money is exchanged over the three day sale, but say sellers never go away empty handed.
If you're looking to buy, there are yard sales all along the 61 mile stretch and if you're looking to sell, all you have to do is find a free spot along the highway and set up.
The yard sale begins in Jackson and ends in Bloomsdale, weaving north all along Highway 61.
It will continue until sundown Friday and all day Saturday.
Find a map and lots of information about the yard sale on the Route 61 yard sale website.
Organizers say there are hundreds of yard sales along the route.
