POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - Police in Poplar Bluff want your help solving a crime and protecting a neighborhood now that the victim of that shooting isn't talking.  It happened Tuesday just after 9 p.m. near Garfield Street in Poplar Bluff.

Police say that shooting lead to shots in retaliation and now authorities want to keep the situation from escalating further.

Police say they have a few leads, but they need people to come forward with information.

"The victim is 21-year-old Paris Thomas," said Jeff Rolland, Deputy Chief of Police. "He made it known early on he would not be cooperating."

Police say Thomas was shot in the knee near the park off Garfield.  Rolland says Thomas is familiar to their narcotics detectives.

Two hours after Thomas was shot, Rolland says shots were fired about six blocks from the first location -- apparently in retaliation.

"Nobody was hurt that time," said Rolland. "We want to protect the whole neighborhood."

Thomas is still recovering. Rolland says it's possible Thomas could face charges depending on the rest of the investigation.

If you have information contact police.
