PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - Paducah police say a man admitted to stealing cash from a nightclub he worked at to play video poker.

Bradley Wood, 38, of Oakland Circle, was arrested on a charge of felony theft by unlawful taking.

Wood is accused of taking $800 and a safe from Club Envy early Monday morning.

Paducah Police say Wood admitted taking money from the cash register to play video poker games at the bar. He said he continued to drink and play video poker, and eventually spent about $350 on the games, according to police.

Police say Wood said he realized he had made a mistake, and decided to take the remainder of the cash from the register. Wood told police he paid the cab driver to take him to Clarksville, where he checked into a motel.  He woke up, became worried and hid the safe under the bed, then began walking back to Kentucky on Tuesday, August 24, according to police.

Wood was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
