Good Morning
Today is Tuesday, August 31

Earl, if you're up early this morning, can you please take your hurricane a little further out to sea?

Overnight Hurricane Earl did not weaken and continued to be a major category 4 storm. Winds near the eye have been measured around 132 mph. Take a look at our interactive hurricane tracker - it's pretty cool.

Here in the Heartland it's thankfully much calmer this morning. In fact, today is last day of meteorological summer and it's going to feel like summer. Brian's continuing to update your morning forecast throughout The Breakfast Show and has written much more on his blog.

This morning we also have sad new details on a deadly crash in Butler County that has claimed the life of a Poplar Bluff man.

Jim and Lauren also have new details about a business robbery in Dexter. And be watching this morning for new video out of Kentucky where troopers found and cut down thousands of pot plants.

Nationally, the big story today appears to be another possible terrorism plane plot. This involves someone flying from Alabama to Chicago to Amsterdam with what authorities are now calling mock bombs. Mock bombs that investigators say involve cell phones and a Pepto Bismol bottle.

If you're interested in all things geeky (I am) be sure to take a few minutes and watch our explanation on how the new Google Voice system works. It's similar to Skype, but of course the marketing department at Google claims it's much easier and cheaper. Watch around 5:50 and decide for yourself.

Then around 6:45 this morning we have a story that has good news about tanning. That's something you don't hear much of these days. We'll show you how 1 woman's desire to help cancer patients actually involves tanning.

Thanks for waking up early with us today - and if you missed The Breakfast Show this morning just head to our home page or mykfvs.com on your cell phone to get caught up on today's news.
