Good Morning
Today is Monday, August 30

It's hard to believe that September is almost here - soon, all the tree leafs will be changing color and fall coats will be put on. But not yet - we still have some summer left packed away in StormTeam storage. This morning on The Breakfast Show Brian will be talking about today's forecast and on-line he's blogging about our summer weather possibly sticking around a little longer.

In the Caribbean Hurricane Earl is churning across the Virgin Islands - take a moment to check out the Heartland News hurricane home page. We have a pretty nice interactive hurricane tracker you can use.

Back here in the Heartland there is an important step this morning for the possible future of a casino in Cape Girardeau. We'll be looking ahead to a meeting Isle of Capri representatives have with local residents and business owners. Be sure to watch Heartland News at Noon for the latest.

On The Breakfast Show this morning we are also showing you some new video from Chile. That's where some of the trapped miners send up some very emotional video to their families.

Today you also need to know to watch out for the Tour of Duty runners along I-55! Fire fighters and emergency service workers from around the world are running across the country to New York City in honor of those who were killed on 9/11. The runners are planning to be in Cape Girardeau around noon today.

This morning at 6:30 we have an update to the Major League Baseball steroid scandal. Later today former big leaguer Roger Clemens will be arraigned for allegedly lying to Congress about his use of steroids. He faces a six-count federal indictment.

Then around 6:45 on The Breakfast Show we have an interesting story the dramatic increase of weight loss surgeries.

Today both Tyler and Stephanie are talking about the fair! Tyler is live this morning at the Du Quoin State Fair and Stephanie will be giving us the low-down on (good news) pigging out at the fair and (bad news) what that could mean to your waistline. Maybe I'm wrong - but I though anything fried on a stick was a good nutritious meal?

This morning Lauren is taking a break and Julia Bruck is joining Jim and Brian in the studio. Send Julia an email and tell her good morning!
