Police search for sexual assault suspect

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - Police have released a sketch of a man they say tried to sexually assault a woman on a street in Carbondale.

The attack happened on Wednesday just after 1 a.m. on the 400 block of south Poplar Street.

Police say the man shown in the suspect sketch allegedly grabbed a female victim from behind and threw her to the ground. The woman was able to fight him off, and the suspect ran away.

The attacker is described as a light-skinned black male, who stands about 5' 11" with a thin build, short brown hair and no facial hair. He was wearing a white, striped shirt and jeans at the time of the attack.
