Carbondale Police look for attempted sexual assault suspect

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - Carbondale Police look for a suspect in an attempted sexual assault.

It happened Wednesday around 1 a.m. in the 400 block of South Poplar Street.

The suspect grabbed the victim from behind and threw her to the ground, according to the Carbondale Police Department.  She was able to fight off the attack and the suspect ran south or southeast from the area.

The suspect is described as a light skinned black male, 5'11" tall, with a thin build, short brown hair, no facial hair, white teeth, wearing a white shirt with stripes and jeans. The white shirt may have had a collar.
