Scott County man recovering after Thursday night shooting

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - According to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter a man was shot while sitting in his living room watching television Thursday night.

The shooting happened at a home on Peach Orchard Lane in the Woodhaven subdivision southeast of Blodgett shortly before 10 p.m.

Sheriff Walter says the man's wife called 911 to report her husband had just been shot. After investigating the sheriff says the man says someone walked up to his front window and fired a single shotgun blast through the window.

The man was hit in the shoulder and neck with small pellets. He was taken to a local hospital and was expected to be released Friday.

Sheriff Walter says 3 canine units from area departments were brought in to try and track the person who shot through the window. The dogs did pick up a scent at one point but were not able to find anyone.

Walter says this is a very nice neighborhood and would not expect anything like this to happen in this area.

At this time the sheriff says this was not a random act but his department is still looking for information that could lead to a suspect.

If you know anything about this shooting you are asked to call the Scott County Sheriff's department at 573-545-3525.
