Man arrested for firing gun at crowd

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) - It's probably one night some people in Murphysboro won't soon forget.

Police say the group was sitting outside of a home when a man in a car pulled up to them and opened fire.

It happened Tuesday afternoon near Country Club and Tippy Roads in Murphysboro.

Witnesses told police a man in a green Nissan Maxima drove up, got out of the car, fired at them, then got back in the car and drove away.

The people outside the home identified the suspect as 21-year-old Robert J. Moutria.

Police found the car a short time later.  It was abandoned.

A warrant was issued for Moutria's arrest.  Police eventually caught up with him and arrested him.

Moutria was taken to the Jackson County Jail on aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a firearm charges.
