(KFVS) - A Bollinger County teen learns he'll do 60 years in prison for the 2008 murder of his guardian and foster mother.

John Wilfong's attorneys say he is remorseful.

Pamela Ackman's husband, Mickey did choose to have his final say Monday.

"You took away 30 years of my life," Mickey Ackman said in court. "You shot somebody that loved you. You meant to hurt Pam, but you didn't hurt her. You hurt everybody. Eleven-hundred people came to that funeral."

Mickey Ackman was joined in court by Pamela Ackman's best friends and family.

Monday would have been her 50th birthday.

Ackman returned home on December 30, 2008 to find his wife in a pool of blood.

"Not a day goes by that I don't think about it," said Ackman.

He says they planned to adopt John Wilfong and another young man who lived with the couple.

Ackman said he'll never understand what John Wilfong did.

"I love who he used to be," said Ackman. "I don't love how he turned out."

Wilfong will serve two back to back sentences for a total of 60 years.

Mickey says he has remarried and is moving on with his life the way he says Pam would have wanted him too.

He says he is thankful for his faith in God and the support of his friends and family.
