WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A West Frankfort woman has been arrested after police say she stole mail from a rural Williamson County mail box.

According to Williamson County Sheriff Bennie Vick, 29-year-old Jessica Sublevel was arrested for theft over $300.

The sheriff's department received a call Thursday night about someone in an older white sports utility vehicle stealing mail from a mail box. Sheriff Vick said while a deputy was speaking to the victim, officers with the Johnston City Police Department found the vehicle and pulled it over. Vick said Stubblefield and her 2-year-old son were inside.

Officers searched the SUV and Vick said they found items belonging to the initial victim and several other victims were found inside.

According to the sheriff, the other victims live in both Williamson and Franklin County. Vick believes some of the thefts dates back to late May or early June.

Jessica Stubblefield is in the Williamson County Jail, pending a bond hearing.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and the Franklin County Sheriff's office are still investigating.
