FRANKFORT, KY (KFVS) - Gov. Steve Beshear announced a project to repair and reopen the airport runway at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in Cadiz, KY.
The airport's recent annual inspection by the Department of Aviation included a finding that cracks in the centerline of the 4,100-foot runway were wide enough in spots to be dangerous. As a result of these findings, the runway was closed on July 17.
The repair will consist of milling away a 12-foot-wide strip of pavement down the center of the runway and replacing it with new asphalt.
The project will cost about $180,000. Work is expected to begin no later than Wednesday, Aug. 11, and the airport should be reopened by the following weekend, weather permitting.
