Mounds fire chief dies

MOUNDS, IL (KFVS) - The Mounds, IL  Fire Chief died Wednesday at the Heartland Regional Hospital in Marion.

William "Bill" Wood, 57, was a member of the Mounds Fire Department for 19 years and was currently serving as Fire Chief.

He served as an EMT in Pulaski County, was Chief of Police in Mounds City, a former police officer in Mounds and was former City Superintendent of Mounds.

Wood was a member and was serving as Commander of the Pulaski County Memorial VFW Post #8891 of Mounds and a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Funeral services for Wood will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, IL. with full military honors with the Illinois National Guard Honor Details and Area Veterans. Interment will be in the Mounds City National Cemetery in Mounds City.
