HEROD, IL (KFVS) - The extreme heat landed two Saline County hikers in the hospital.
According to the sheriff's department, deputies were called to the River to River Trail 4:55 p.m. Tuesday.
Two people, a 54-year-old male and female, were extremely dehydrated. They met up with the Pope County ambulance at 6:12 p.m. and were taken to Hardin County General Hospital for treatment.
The sheriff's office recorded a high temperature of 106 and heat index of 122 on Tuesday.
