CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The StormTeam forecasts some of the hottest weather of the summer during the upcoming week.
Over the next few days a strong area of high pressure at the jet stream level will expand out of the southern plains into the Mississippi Valley.
Temperatures will begin to rise noticeably by Monday afternoon, but it appears that Tuesday and Wednesday will likely be the hottest days of the summer to date.
Official high temperatures look to range from the mid 90s to the low 100's.
There is still some question as to humidity levels during the week, as some forecast models indicate that we may mix down some slightly drier air. If that occurs, peak heat index numbers will likely rise to between 105 to 110 degrees.
If dew points don't drop, heat index numbers could reach or even exceed 110 in some areas. In any case, official heat advisories and perhaps heat warnings will likely be issued.
