FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The Federal Bureau of Investigation is joining the search for the people who used a chainsaw to cut down several power poles.
Southern Illinois Power hired a private investigator to help catch the vandals. The FBI's investigation will be separate from that one.
Police say on July 11th chainsaw toting vandals cut off power to thousands on people in Northeast Franklin County.
They chopped down three power poles along north Log Cabin Road shortly before 10 o'clock that night.
They're also accused of causing damage to one of the company's substations.
If caught the vandals could face between five to 20 years in prison depending on the amount of damage caused.
