BENTON, MO (KFVS) - A Scott County man is facing some serious charges after prosecutors say he had sexual contact with a child.
According to Scott County sheriff Rick Walter, this all started when investigators were called to the child's home in rural Scott County to assist the Scott County Children's Division.
Sheriff Walter says while there, investigators learned of possible sexual contact between a child and an adult.
As part of the investigation the child was interviewed by the SEMO Network Against Sexual Violence in Cape Girardeau. Based on that interview police say they found enough probable cause to arrest 32 Year-old Ronald L Parkhurst Jr.
Investigators say Parkhurst allegedly had numerous inappropriate incidents with a child during the past two months.
Prosecutors charged Parkhurst with 10 counts of First Degree Statutory Sodomy with a person less than 14 years old.
Parkhurst is in jail on a $150,000 cash only bond.
