CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Tourism, commerce, and economic development are top of mind for city leaders in Cape Girardeau. Now, some residents are also taking it upon themselves to promote the City of Roses.

"This could be really neat for the city," said Kevin Alexander. "That's what I'm going for."

Kevin Alexander is the man behind a web site focused on Cape Girardeau.

"It's kind of a visual directory of everything Cape has to offer," said Alexander.

Cape Girardeau YOU! features restaurants, businesses, community events and more.

"It's linked to YouTube right now," said Alexander. He does the work for free. He moved to Cape Girardeau from Tulsa almost ten years ago. He says he feel in love with Cape.

"To see the expansion that has happened since I've been here says a lot for the city," said Alexander.

Alexander approaches businesses and other organizations to offer his services as a photographer for promotion. He caters to what they would like to see, much like commercial advertising. Only, this service does not cost a penny.

"Even people that live here in Cape Girardeau don't know about some of these places," said Alexander.

Alexander says he's looking for a web expert that would help with development of the site.

"I really have high hopes for this," said Alexander.
