Two killed in crash on I-24

MASSAC COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Two people died in a single-vehicle crash Saturday on Interstate 24 in Massac County.

It happened at 7:15 p.m. July 10 at the 24 westbound milepost.

A 2001 black Ford Explorer towing a loaded small single axle trailer, was traveling westbound when the trailer started whipping back and forth.

It caused the Explorer to lose control, run off the road to the right and overturn twice.

Stephanie R. Tucker, age 43, of Metropolis, was ejected from the vehicle, and was air-lifted to Western Baptist Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 9:20 p.m.  Tucker was a passenger in the front of the vehicle.

Henry S. Daniels, age 66, of Carbondale, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:45 p.m. by the Massac County Coroner Jason McManus. He was the driver.

A third passenger, Mary L. Harris, age 65, of Metropolis, was not injured.

No one in the vehicle was wearing their seatbelts.
