Police investigate possible car arson in Caruthersville

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KFVS) - Police are investigating a possible car arson in Caruthersville.

Someone set fire to a Chevy Astro van sometime Tuesday night on Beckwith Rd.

It was sitting in the driveway of a home. The person who lives there tells us she came outside Wednesday morning and discovered the inside of the van had been burned. Police say it looks like the fire burned itself out. Hicks says she has no idea who would set fire to the van or why, but police say they do have a few leads.

"We have some ideas of why there might've been a motive behind it," said Chief Chris Riggs, Caruthersville City Marshal. "We know there's been some fussing going on between a couple of families and there might have been an issue of retaliation."

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
