WEST FRANKFORT, IL (KFVS) - An arson investigation at a rural West Frankfort home leads to the arrest of a 17-year-old.
Cody Rush, faces and aggravated arson charge.
West Frankfort Fire Chief Wes Taylor says crews responded to Lake Creek road just after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Taylor says the fire started in the bed of the three story home.
Firefighters from several area departments worked to put out the blaze.
Taylor says it took crews about a half hour to get control of the fire, but adds the high temperatures and humidity made it very difficult to fight the blaze.
He says a Johnston City firefighter was taken to Herrin hospital for heat exhaustion, but is now doing OK.
Taylor says Franklin County Sheriff deputies and the state fire marshal were called in after statements made by witnesses.
He says information gathered led to the arrest of Rush.
