(Cairo, IL)--Justin Vaughn, son of former Southern Illinois Univeristy basketball player Charles "Chico" Vaughn was shot to death in his Cairo home on Thursday afternoon.
Shortly after the shooting, police removed several young men from the home in handcuffs. Cairo Police Chief Fred Smith says they were questioned in connection with the shooting. No arrest for the shooting had been made as of Thursday evening.
Investigators recovered a gun just across the street from the shooting. They aren't saying what kind of gun was found.

Justin Vaughn graduated from Cairo High School in 1999.  In 2001, he was shot at at the Riverfront Lounge just outside of Cairo. In that incident, he was hit once. The bullet left him paralyzed and Vaughn was confined to a wheelchair. Family members say he was in that chair when he was fatally shot on Thursday.

Chico and Justin Vaughn lived together the home on Washington street in Cairo. Chico's wife, June, died of cancer just a few months ago.  Chico was an SIU Basketball stand-out and played in the ABA and NBA.
Justin Vaughn was in his early 20's.
