Are you ready? Is your air conditioning in your home and car working? Are your fans strategically placed around the house or office? Do you just like to sweat? These are all questions that will be answered over the next few days as dangerously hot weather returns to the Heartland. Brian's writing about it on his blog this morning and will be going into the sticky details throughout The Breakfast Show today.
On a side note – at least it doesn't feel like 117 degrees like it did in Cape almost 5 years ago!
New in the news this morning - we now know the names of the people involved in a car versus scooter crash last night on Highway 25 in Cape Girardeau County.
Jim and Lauren will also be telling you about a serious debate over your money in the Missouri senate overnight. Right now lawmakers are in special session with the expressed goal of the governor to pass legislation offering tax incentives to automakers. That's not sitting well with some senators. We'll be showing you what extreme measures are being taken to block the bill and tell you why.
This morning we also have a heartwarming story from the Sedalia area. That's where a man with a big heart is being recognized by local teens for his work as a Wal-Mart greeter. He's even got his own Facebook fan site!
Today we're also going to take you live to the Marion farmer's market. These local growers are up early with Lauren today showing us what's for sale and telling us why they say it's important to support local farmers, growers and manufacturers.
At the same time Lauren is also putting the Insta Peel to the Does it Work test. Can you really invent a better potato peeler? At 6:15 this morning see if the little $5 kitchen gadget is worth your hard-earned cash.
Thanks for getting up early with us this morning. And despite the heat - I hope you can find a way to have a great day!
