PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department tells Heartland News searchers recovered the body of a man killed in a crash on I-24 on the Ohio River Bridge.

The crashed happened just before 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7. During the original investigation, authorities found the body of 74-year-old Donald Winn. He was apparently hit and killed after stopping on the side of the interstate to recover a ladder that fell out of truck.

Following the accident investigation, police received information that another person had been in the truck with Winn. A family member apparently found the body of 29-year-old Michael Cowart in the river around 8:00 Friday morning.

A preliminary investigation of Cozart's body by the McCracken County Coroner's Office indicated no trauma was present that would be related to him being hit by a vehicle. The Sheriff says right now it appears Cozart may have fallen over the railing and into the river to avoid being hit by the car.
