BLOOMFIELD, MO (KFVS) - Family members of a husband and wife accused of murdering a Bernie man speak out.
Allen and Angela McCoy stand accused of killing and robbing 67-year-old Aubury Lee Finch Monday. According to authorities, Allen McCoy told others about the crime, and that person turned him in.
"My mother is a good person," said Jennifer Williams. "She was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Angela and her husband face first degree murder, first degree robbery and armed criminal action charges, but Angela's daughter insists her mother is innocent.
"She could not have done this," said Williams.
Williams says Allen McCoy is her stepdad.
"I know my mother could not have done this."
"We love Angie," said her stepmom, Sharon Passley. "I know she did not kill this man."
Passley says Angela has five children, and Heartland News is told Allen has daughters as well.
Meanwhile, the Finch family and the McCoy's relatives tell Heartland News they were once related by marriage.
"I remember him and he was a good man," said Williams. "I feel sorry for his family."
"That man did not deserve to die," said Passley.
In the courtroom, Andrea McCoy blew a kiss to her family.
Both of the McCoys are scheduled to be back in court in Stoddard County on July 22.
