Say goodbye to sinking and getting stuck in the grass? Oh, and say hello to TV's Leeza Gibbons. "OK, my friend Leeza wears heels better than anybody I know" says KLTV's Joe Terrell. "I only wear them
But in a world where we encase our cell phones, our sunglasses - we even sell cases to cover our suitcases - do we really need cap covers for our high heels?

JACKSON, MO  (KFVS) - Karry Pontius and her kids love ice cream shakes, but hate the mess her leaky blender leaves behind.

"This is messy."

So, the new Micro Shakes could be a cook's dream come true during these hot summer months.

"Microwave shakes? It's kind of a contradiction in terms. I wouldn't associate a cold shake with a microwave."

But in 40 seconds or less, Kroger brands promise we'll have the perfect single-serve shake.

"Still cold."

But it's a little soupy.

"Tastes good."

We get two thumbs up from the kiddos. However, the directions say each microwave could be different, so on our next Micro Shake, we cut the cooking time in half.

Twenty seconds later, it's still tough to stir. We add another ten seconds. The end result is the perfect consistency for a shake, just like one you'd make in a blender, and better than our first Micro Shake.

"This one is a lot thicker."

It tastes pretty good, too, if I do say so myself.

However, I'm not going to let my taste buds completely fall for a gimmick here.

"It's kind of like defrosting ice cream?" I ask Karry.

"Yeah, basically you get a thing of ice cream, you stick it in a cup, and microwave it."

Karry points out with this, you're paying for convenience, and there are some pros to this handy little cup.

"It's easy. It's less messy. The kids could do it themselves."

When you're done, toss it. There's no cleanup.

"I'm thinking a grade B+."

It is a lot like melting ice cream in a cup on your own, and these shakes are only available in Kroger stores, so not everyone can buy these locally.

Still, it tastes pretty good, and it did live up to that yummy promise: shakes in 40 seconds or less. So, no cold remarks about this. The Kroger-brand Micro Shake serves up a "B+" on this Does it Work test.  There are Kroger stores located in southern Illinois, Paducah and Poplar Bluff here in the Heartland.
