CAPE GIRARDEAU (KFVS) - A man is in the Cape Girardeau Jail following a string of events that reportedly began unfolding around 6:20 p.m. Saturday at the Cue & Brew, a bar located at 470 S. Kingshighway in Cape.

A woman claimed it began when the suspect threw a video poker machine at her inside the bar.  She claimed the machine hit her and slightly injured her.  According to Cape Girardeau patrolman David Willingham, the suspect then walked out of the bar and drove off in the victim's vehicle.

Willingham said the suspect ended up hitting a vehicle nearby on Bloomfield Road.  He then got out of the vehicle and ran for about a block until being caught by police.

The suspect's name is not being released pending formal charges.  However, Cape Girardeau patrolman David Willingham said investigators are pursing felony assault and leaving the scene of an accident, driving while intoxicated and failure to stop at a red light.

The woman does not face charges in the incident.
