CAPE GIRARDEAU (KFVS) - An investigation is underway into a break-in and theft at Hempies, a head shop at 111 N. Main in downtown Cape.
Cape Girardeau Police Sgt. Jason Selzer said the owners arrived at Hempies around 10:50 a.m. Wednesday to open for business and noticed that someone had broken into the shop. Once inside, they noticed several smoking devices were missing.
The owners were not available for comment, and a Hempies employee did not know how many devices were stolen. The employee also did not know how much money the stolen merchandise was worth.
No suspects are in police custody.
A head shop is generally defined as a store specializing in items of interest to drug users. However, the owners have previously stated that Hempies does not sell anything illegal.
